Divespots at Gran Canaria

1. Allegranza: 

The former, almost 40m long fishing boat was several years in front of the port of Puerto de Mogán sunk, to the tourists from the U-boat, "Yellow Submarine" to provide an objective. Through various winter storms, it is broken into several parts. In addition to a large flock of yellow fin Grunts you find Bogas, sardines, trumpet fish and many more.


Travel time by boat: 2 minutes 
Maximum depth: 19 meters 
Location: right in front of the port of Mogán

 

2. Cermonia II: 

Since year 2000, the Cermonia II lies less than 40 meters away from the Allegranza, laterally on the seabed. Here is also often the "Yellow Submarine" to see. In the open water are almost always barracudas, and often chasing tunas.

Maximum depth: 19 meters 
Location: right in front of the port of Mogán

 

3. Blue Bird (especially for advanced): 

Something for the experienced diver is a dive at the Blue Bird, a former fishing trawler. Here is a "fish wall" so that you can see the wreck only, when you have fought you through the wall. In the blue water are actually always chasing mackerel to found.

 

Prerequisites: 100 dives & depth of experience

Location: about 2 km off the port of Mogán

 

4. Reserva Marina del Cabron (Arinaga): 

Reserva Marina del Cabron is perhaps the most likely and popular dive site in Gran Canary. On Fridays it is not possible to get to the boat, because of the market along the port so we offer as an alternative two dives in the Marine National Park Arinaga, below from the airport. Here we dive from the shore and at three entry points, Punta de la Sal, Punta de la Monja and El Hoyo, offer to explore the possibility various dive sites Apart from a bizarre underwater landscape of grottos, chimneys, archways and several small caves are several large schools of fish and a great species richness find. If we follow the reef edge on the left side you meet at a depth of 30m on a large yellow Gorgonian.

5. Artifiselle: 

Dive on an artificial reef at the University of Las Palmas. On the various concrete formations are often barracudas, Angel sharks and different Stingray species to observe. Snow-white sand, therefore, often good visibility, but also partially strong current.

Location: between Arguineguin and the Lighthouse of Maspalomas, about 2km off the coast

 

6. Pasito Blanco: 

An oval formed plateau reef with a depth up to of 20m. The reef boasts a wide of variety species, exposed moray eels, a huge stationary swarm of barracudas and predators often hunting in open water. Almost always found there are large stingrays and a large puffer, Tamboril Espinosa.

 

Depth: 14-20 meters

Location: Pasito Blanco is the same port in the Bay before the lighthouse of Maspalomas

 

7. La Caleta: 

Dive spot we hit in late summer with the car. During this time you could see here Mantas. For the long travel time and sometimes a bit difficult entry you will be rewarded with a fascinating spectacle, when the elegant Mantas glide over the diver. If conditions allow it, we'll do here a break on the surface for the second dive. Alternatively, we go a little further to Sardina del Norte.

9. Playa del Cura: 

A natural reef, with shoals of small fish and a little wreck (Armando Theodoro) about 14m long. Besides the usual schools of fish here on Gran Canary, patrolling a blue triggerfish.

 

Depth: 21m

Location: in front of Playa de Amadores

 

10. El Russo: 

El Russo is a Russian airfoil boat that was sunk in 2000 by Playa de Mujeres, and in a depth of 17 meters lies. The wreck is 30 meters long and 9 meters wide. Through the relatively shallow depth, is it through different winter storms ripped very far apart, so we take this wreck not very often. To see are also the two powerful machines of the airfoil boat.

11. El Pajar: 

El Pajar is a fringing reef in front of the cement factory of Arguineguin. The partial reef edge offers many small creatures such as spider crabs, arrow crabs, slipper lobster, or lobsters protection and accommodation. In addition to a large bank of bastard grunts, here are almost always stingrays, and a lot of barracudas to see. 12. El Perchel:

13. Taibabales: 

Anchor here at the transition between reef and scree field, which gently transferred on a sandy bottom with numerous garden eels. At the end is waiting a small cave, in there  almost always canaries lobsters are found.

14. Islands Corner: 

This is the northwestern of our dive spots. Islands Corner is now virtually unknown and is served by any other dive school. More or less by random, we heard about this place. About water rises the steep coast nearly 60m vertically into the height, underwater is this not as deep, but on no less impressive. In addition to great abundance of fish, you find different Gorgonian and large stingrays. Often current

15. Playa de Amadores: 

Shore dive on perhaps the best beach in Gran Canary. 
Comfortable entry over the inside mole of the protection wall hence also ideal for the first open water dives of our students. On the outer mole are big schools of Sardines to see. An impressive spectacle when predators such as barracudas and mackerel in the middle of these schools to go hunting.

 

Depth: 6 - 12m

16. Veneguera: 

a beautiful rock formation on the rocky coast of Veneguera. Anchor at a large boulder, about 40m away from the reef. About a sandy bottom with numerous eels to get to the cliff with spectacular rock formations

Location: on the northwest coast of Gran Canary, direction Tenerife

 

17. Como tu: 

"Deep dive" on a small fishing boat, 18m long. Around the wreck is a large swarm of Grunts. In and around the wreck are hermit crabs, clup-tipped sea anemones, charonias tritonis and much more. Buried in the sand are often butterfly rays; torpedos and angel sharks to discover.


Depth: 28 - 30m

18. El Manatial: 

Beautiful underwater rock formations where you can see yet clearly the lava tracks of the volcano eruption. But the view into the open water is always worthwhile. Unfortunately we can not promise that Wahoo’s, dolphins or something similar is becoming found here.

19. Piper 32: 

"Deep dive" on a small plane wreck, a Piper Cherokee P32. For a long time almost entirely hidden under sand, has the last winter storm it uncovered again. Several morays have found their home here, as well as a large swarm of sardines.

20. Mogán West:
Unsere Kinderstube, da hier im Frühjahr Unmengen von Jungfisch an zu treffen ist. Geankert wird an zwei vorgelagerten Felsbrocken, wo hunderte von Röhrenaale zu finden sind. Vorbei bzw. durch einen Fischschwarm gelangt man zu einer kleinen Grotte, die das Zuhause eines Rauhschwanzstechrochen ist. Entlang an einer Felsformation, die das Aussehen eines Krokodilkopfes hat, und unter einem Überhang hindurch, geht es, begleitet von Sardinen, zurück zum Anker.

 

Tiefe: 16m

Lage: zwischen Mogán und El Perchel, Richtung Teneriffa

 

21. El Caracol:
Tauchplatz direkt an der Felswand zwischen Playa de Amadores und Puerto Rico, geankert wird hier an einer Boje. Die Steilwand setzt sich zwar unter Wasser nicht fort, trotzdem sind beeindruckende Felsformationen mit vielen Nischen in denen Octopoden und Muräne ihr Zuhause gefunden haben, zu sehen. Auch Schmetterlingsrochen sind oftmals an zu treffen. Wer allerdings hofft El Caracol, zu Deutsch Wendeltreppe, unter Wasser zu sehen, wird enttäuscht werden. Diese befindet sich über Wasser und ist der Zugang zum Felsstrand.

22. Punta de la Paja:
Onewaydive entlang der Südwestkueste Gran Canaria. Die "Marea Canaria" setzt euch im Flachwasser direkt vor einer Felsengrotte, die je nach Wasserstand mal mehr, mal weniger geflutet ist, ab. Entlang an Lavaauswaschungen geht es zu einem Tunnel der mehrere Meter in die Felswand führt. Am Ende wartet eine neugierige Muräne. Nach dem Freiwasseraufstieg holt Euch die "Marea Canaria" wieder ab.
Wer wissen möchte was der Name des Tauchspots bedeutet sollte mal jemanden unseres Teams fragen. Aber nicht Rot werden.

23. Punta Descojonado:
Nicht weit von Islands Corner entfernt findet man diesen Tauchplatz. Mehrere gelbe und rote Gorgognen, eine faszinierende Unterwasserlandschaft mit Grotten und Überhängen sowie ein enormer Fischreichtum zeichnen diesen Spot, den wir als einzige Basis im Programm haben, aus. Aufgrund starker Strömung im Sommer und hohen Wellen im Winter leider nicht ganzjährig zu betauchen.
